Classical Music Open Mike
Have you ever wondered why it is that if you’re a singer/songwriter you can hit an open mike 7 nights a week, but if you play classical music you don’t have that option? You can show up and play classical music at a singer/songwriter/folk open mic, but it doesn’t exactly “fit”.
So, if you’ve ever pondered that question, then Classical Music Open Mike is for you! But, it’s not here yet.
We’re in the planning stages, hoping for a 3-session pilot (January, February, March) this winter.
update 12/2007: I think I need to shelve this concept for the time being. I can’t find a place to do this, and I need to focus on getting a few other projects started and finished first. In the meantime, I’ll be gathering ideas. In fact, the Irish music sessions at the Green Briar might be a good source of ideas, I’m going to hit that sometime soon.

Hey Ben, I’m another Ben from Cardiff, UK. Just stumbled on your blog and coincidentally, I’m currently attempting to set something up very similar over here. I’ve been speaking to a number of my musician friends who are really up for it and there are quite a few open mic evenings here in Cardiff that I’m going to try to hijack… Will let you know how I get on. Hope you have better luck with yours at some point…
Cardiff, UK? Fantastic! I feel I know the city just from watching the new Dr. Who Season 1!
